"What convinced me to join FiveForty°? A conversation with Jonathan", Loc responds
"He had just created FiveForty° and shared with me a broad vision of its development in which my developer position would have without doubt to evolve with the growth of the company." A few years prior, Loc had been to the best school, trained on AX by a certain Jérôme Piquot.
Six very difficult months
Speaking of training, Loc, now a senior developer, remembers that arriving in Alsace from Vietnam at the age of 10, he didn't speak a word of French. "The first six months were very difficult." But he perceives the kindness of the teacher. “It was sometimes amusing. I remember a French homework assignment where my five out of twenty earned me encouragement when my neighbor with a nine was scolded." Things will get better very quickly for him in math where he shows a lot of ease. It will be the same for languages. A “plus” that he will put to good use on his numerous trips. After the baccalauréat [French High School degree], he prepares a DUT [University Technological Diploma] in IT. In this context, an exchange trip of a few months allows him to appreciate England. After the DUT, he goes back there to prepare a bachelor, the equivalent of an undergraduate degree at Teesside University near Newcastle. In the program for this one year: IT, business management and IT. "Afterwards, I wanted to continue with a master's degree, but a friend in Holland told me about an international volunteering contract with a position available quickly." So, here he is in Eindhoven for two years in an employment placement company in the industrial sector. Then, when he wants to pursue a master's degree, he chooses Brisbane in Australia.
Talk about variety!
Among his experiences on this "upside down" continent, he remembers an unusual culinary moment for him: "A traditional dish in the middle of the desert, stewed kangaroo tail under the sand." From Australia, he also remembers the fantastic barrier reef: "a mask and a snorkel are enough to be welcomed in the world of Nemo, with the incredible fish and incredible colors." Loc takes the opportunity to spend a thrilling month in New Zealand. One after the other he does parachute jumping, surfing, walks on the glaciers and bungee jumping: "the highest in the southern hemisphere, 134m. Eight seconds of free fall!" After a year in Australia, Loc returns to Alsace and starts working with Jérôme, at Itaneo. "I have never seen anyone like him, able to master an unknown technology. Among other things, he taught me the mysteries of ERP, I followed him in Itanéo, then on projects at Flexmind." Jerome also explains the need for good presentation to customers. The message got through to Loc: "I really like dressing up. Today I must have over two hundred shirts in my closets!."
The elegant Loc is also passionate about Latin dances, especially salsa. In the club where he is registered, he meets a young girl. He drops everything to follow her to New York. But the story is cut short. Loc returns to France. He's having this conversation with Jonathan who convinces him to come back to FiveForty°. "He needed a developer on AX, a topic that I already mastered it well. And his speech on opening up possibilities for development within the start-up did the rest because the co. was already working very well."
On a cloud
Today, Loc is the specialist for the latest version of AX Dynamics 365 in the cloud. "It's very cool, you access it through the internet, no local server needed anymore. Everything is stored in the cloud." At FiveForty°, he loves the accessibility of associates and this knowledge sharing. "There is a concern here to share expertise so that everyone learns more than his field of specialties", he points out. Dance continues to fascinate him. Whenever he can, Loc steps out. His passion already has taken him all over the world, to Croatia, Poland, Israel, France. He even performed on stage. But if he had to confess to a guilty pleasure, it would be gluttony. "I very much like to eat very much. So that in seminars I sometimes sit next to girls who pay attention to their figure hoping to finish their plates." °
