The man of the arts
At the edge of the pool, wearing a colorful shirt, his first remote interview with FiveForty took place quite unusually. Approached by the Nigel Franck recruitment office, Firas had his choice between three very interesting offers. “I interviewed with Avanade then Prodware and I was convinced I was accepting one of their offers. I was totally relaxed when I began my FiveForty° interview”, remembers Firas.
No problem for Alexandre and Joseph, now his managers, who begin the conversation about how blue his hawaïan shirt is. Then the questions linked to customer relationships and about the manner how Firas approaches the conduct of a project come one after another. “I noticed the importance of the human aspect in this exchange and understood they were looking for profiles like theirs, for whom empathy and listening are fundamental criteria.” As the conversation progressed, the internet connection became unstable: “I had to get back to my room and seeing my movie posters, The Shining, Grand Budapest Hotel, Cold War… the exchanges turned to cinema and the tastes that all three of us had in common.”

Arts and business
“Well before this interview, by going on their website, I had noticed FiveForty°s quirky approach
about ERP with their artistic post cards.” A “Forty-Fan°″ from the beginning, he digs the website’s
color scheme, the surf vibe ambiance, the spirit and the tonality of the whole.
“Reading the coworkers’ portraits really made me eager to know them.”
After the first video session with FiveForty°, Firas meets Jonathan.
The conversation starts about technical bases in French, then Jonathan soon after asks him
if he is fluent in English. It is in this language that continues the meeting that will clinch his hiring.
IT Boy
Born in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, Firas early on discovers a passion for the arts,
painting, theater and cinema. When he returns to Tunisia with his parents at 14, he smoothly
continues his schooling and, sensitive to the explosion of the IT universe, he chooses an engineering school.
With a degree in advanced technologies, and a specialization in industrial systems, he steers towards
a local integrator for an end-of-studies internship where he participates to retail and sales.
He will stay there for two and a half years. When the IT manager leaves the consulting firm to create his own,
Firas follows him and brings along his buddy Wassim, who studied the same courses as he did.
The deep end
Today, he appreciates the young Microsoft Solutions consulting firm where he was immersed right
away in the deep end. “In a short time, I learned a lot technically. But also how to manage the end
of afterwork parties at 2 am to be on a train the next morning at 8, fresh and available towards
Normandy, for his customers”, remembers Firas cheerfully. If the pace is solid, the mindset shared by
all and this general attitude are a real plus: “I like working with Joseph and each of the partners.
With them, it’s simple. They don’t overly complicate things: it goes fast.”
Crystal Abysses
A reader of Nietzche and Averroes, something profound permeates from the personality
of an always-smiling Firas. Is there a link with one of his passions, cave exploration?
“I keep a thousand and one wonderful memories. Among them, a New Year’s Eve in the fabulous Aïn Dhab cave,
in Tunisia. One must imagine a succession of nine chambers with an underground river and above all,
long and thin stalactites close to six or seven meters long, pure crystal angel hairs.”
A music fan since forever, Firas today appreciates very particularly a sophisticated kind of electro music:
Ro-minimal, the Romanian sound and the moment’s trend. “It’s a subtle and ethereal music,
complicated in its simplicity, tinted with fragile touches on a minimalist baseline.
Notice its very low BPM*: it can take you very high”, Firas warns. He who knows where he is going. °
